Engineer - Automation, Navigation and Controls
Dynamic Area of Undersea Vehicles
The engineer reports to the R&D manager and must have basic knowledge of dynamic system modeling and validation.
In particular, this resource will deal with:
- Requirements analysis.
- Modeling of dynamic systems of autonomous underwater vehicles.
- Testing and validation activities.
- Data analysis and vehicle performance optimization.
- Support for the innovation of the components followed.
Presence on-site in La Spezia is required.
Skills/requirements:
- Master or doctorate in Mechanical, Mechatronics, and Aerospace Engineering.
- Experience using vehicle simulation tools (including driving simulators).
- Familiarity with virtual simulation environments and experimental testing.

Software Engineer
The Software Engineer reports to the R&D manager and must be familiar with programming languages and embedded programming, especially with ARM microcontrollers.
The resource will also manage the company’s IT department, including the website and the internal cloud.
A degree in Information Engineering/Science and presence at the office in La Spezia is required.

Sales Engineer
We are seeking a Sales Engineer who can combine technical expertise with commercial skills to support the sales of our AUVs. The ideal candidate will have experience in selling complex technological products, the ability to build strong customer relationships, and an in-depth understanding of the needs of the maritime and industrial sectors.
Main Responsibilities
- Promote and sell EdgeLab solutions to existing and potential customers in the Defence, Scientific, Oil & Gas, and Underwater Archaeology sectors.
- Understand customer needs and translate them into customized technical solutions.
- Prepare commercial offers, technical proposals, and contractual documentation.
- Participate in trade fairs, conferences, and other industry events to represent EdgeLab and identify new business opportunities.
- Collaborate with internal design and production teams to ensure proposed solutions meet customer specifications.
- Manage the sales process, including contract negotiation and achieving revenue targets.
- Monitor the market, analyse trends, and identify new growth opportunities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (preferably Mechatronics, Electronics) or Oceanography, Marine Technologies, or equivalent.
- 1+ years of experience in sales or business development roles, preferably related to complex technological products.
- Knowledge of the maritime, robotics, or industrial automation sectors is a plus.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills in both Italian and English.
- Ability to explain technical concepts to a non-technical audience.

Mechatronic / Robotic Engineer for Innovative Projects
Job description:
Main responsibilities:
- Collaborate on the design and integration of mechatronic systems for autonomous vehicles
- Develop embedded software in C/C++ for microcontrollers (STM32, ESP32, etc.)
- Write scripts and tools in Python for testing, data processing, and automation
- Interface with sensors, actuators, and electronic systems using protocols such as UART, SPI, I2C, and CAN
- Take part in lab and field-testing sessions
- Work closely with the R&D team on prototyping and validating new solutions
Required skills:
- Proficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems and/or firmware development
- Good command of Python
- Hands-on experience with electronic boards, sensors, actuators, and communication buses
- Basic knowledge of electronics and lab tools (oscilloscope, multimeter, soldering, etc.)
- Ability to read electrical schematics and perform basic hardware assembly and debugging
- Strong teamworking attitude and collaborative mindset
Considered a plus:
- Experience with FreeRTOS, STM32Cube, PlatformIO
- Knowledge of ROS/ROS2, Embedded Linux, Docker

Electronics Laboratory Technician
Main responsibilities:
We are looking for an Electronics Laboratory Technician to join our team in La Spezia.
The role will mainly involve electronic assembly and wiring activities, with the opportunity to take part in sea trials on autonomous underwater vehicles and related systems.Key responsibilities:
- Assembly and soldering of electronic circuits using Through-Hole (THT) and Surface-Mount Device (SMD) technologies.
- Electrical/electronic wiring activities (wires, connectors, harnesses).
- Use of laboratory equipment (soldering stations, multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies).
- Support in testing and debugging of electronic prototypes.
- Participation in sea trials on board RIBs or other platforms.
- Supporting the team during operational trials.
Required qualifications:
- Hands-on experience in assembling and soldering THT and SMD components.
- Good manual skills and precision in wiring.
- Ability to read electrical/electronic schematics.
- Teamwork skills and operational flexibility.
Preferred qualifications:
- Knowledge and practical experience in the use of resins and silicones for potting, a procedure we apply to make electronic assemblies waterproof.
- Experience in electronic laboratory work in prototyping environments.
- Basic knowledge of measuring and testing instruments.
- Technical diploma (electronics, electrical engineering, mechatronics, or similar).

The Mechanical Engineer reports to the Head of Research and Development and must have strong skills in mechanical design and 3D CAD modelling, with particular experience in the use of SolidWorks and similar software.
The role involves the design and optimisation of components for our Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs) and providing support for production and prototyping activities.
Skills / Requirements:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering;
Excellent knowledge of SolidWorks and other 3D CAD software (e.g. CATIA, Inventor, Creo);
Ability to read and interpret 2D technical drawings and manufacturing specifications;
Knowledge of materials, mechanical tolerances and manufacturing processes;
Ability to manage multiple complex projects in parallel and set priorities effectively;
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work as part of a team;
Self-motivation, initiative and adaptability;
Good command of technical and scientific English.
